Support planned for the actual spa

Concrete pads for hot tubs

A hot tub becomes considerably heavier once it is filled and occupied. The pad should therefore be planned with the actual spa model and manufacturer’s installation requirements in mind.

01

Use the model specifications

The manufacturer’s support instructions, filled weight and base footprint are the starting information. Universal slab dimensions or reinforcement advice would ignore meaningful differences between spas and sites.

02

Electrical and service access

Electrical work has its own requirements and should be coordinated with the relevant qualified trade. Covers, controls, pumps and removable panels need space to be reached after the tub is installed.

03

Drainage and placement route

The yard still needs to drain around the pad, and water released during maintenance needs a sensible route. Delivery access should be confirmed separately from construction access: the finished spa may need to pass a gate, fence or overhead obstruction.
