Concrete contractor in Pickering

Surface transitions matter whenever new concrete meets a garage, sidewalk, porch or yard. The amount and direction of grade must be measured at the actual property rather than inferred from the area.

01

Use grade, do not assume it

Some sites provide clear fall while others have limited elevation between fixed points. Neither should be treated as a rule for all Pickering properties. Measurements show where water can realistically travel.

A driveway that slopes overall can still have a local low point near the garage or along a widened edge. Surface shape needs more detail than one end-to-end number.

02

Transitions affect how people use the route

A walkway meeting steps or a driveway should not create a hidden short riser. Patio edges should meet lawn without becoming a channel or a difficult step for furniture and movement.

Where old and new concrete connect, a visible joint and colour difference are expected. The connection should be stable and drain properly before it is judged by colour.

03

Replacement creates a chance to reset

If slabs have moved to different heights, demolition opens the support for inspection. Soft areas and disturbed fill can be corrected before the surface is formed again.

The new elevations still have to work with every item that remains. Removal provides opportunity, but does not make a garage threshold, porch or city sidewalk adjustable.
